EVERTON IMPRESS

Everton have been one of the teams of the season, as they have been able to seamlessly transform from the hard defensive approach by David Moyes to the elegant passing style of Roberto Martinez. Even better has been the fact that Everton have been able to get consistent results even with this change in style football. A big part of the change has been owed to the manager, but the club also have had players capable of adapting to this style. One of their best players this season has been Seamus Coleman.

The right back has been subjected to interest from Manchester United in the summer, although the interest did not develop into anything official. The reasons for interest from top clubs is becoming apparent, as he has been hugely consistent. He is also the highest scoring right back in the country right now. Martinez, who has had the experience of watching several top right backs in Spanish football, says that Coleman is right up there with the best in the business. The 25-year-old has already scored seven goals for the club this season.

After the 3-0 win over Arsenal on Sunday, Everton moved within a point of the gunners, but with a game in hand.

“Seamus is a good example of a footballer with an incredible attitude and appetite for the game. He grows month by month. He’s one of the best full-backs in world football. I haven’t done anything to coax that out of him per se. He knows his potential. He plays in a demanding position which needs you to be so good in many areas. We all know that it’s difficult to get perfection in football terms. There’s always slight margins for improvement,” said Martinez about his right back and the possibility of finishing in the top four.
