CAN SIGURDSSON DELIVER UCL FOOTBALL AT EVERTON?

Everton are leading the chase for Swansea City star player Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The Merseyside believes the player can help the team in European football this term and substantially contribute as The Toffees dream of Champions League football.

Everton have spent on a few additions this summer but they could splash £50 million more to get the Swansea city ace. Coach Ronald Koeman is trying to convince the Goodison chiefs that the player is worth the hype and cost. Koeman is reportedly considering adding 19-year old Callum Connolly into the deal to soften the stance of The Swans.

There has been a drawn out sage over Sigurdsson’s future so Swansea boss Paul Clement left out the player in the club’s pre-season affair against Birmingham. Everton are set to offer £40 million in cash now, £5 million rated Connolly and add-ons/extras that would bring the deal to £50 million. The extras would depend on game time played, goals scored and contribution to the team’s success in the league and Europe.

Swansea have a deal with the player for the next three years so they are demanding £50 million, which is the least surprising in the inflated transfer market now. Everton would need to come close to get their target from the Liberty Stadium before the August 31 deadline.

With Ross Barkley keen on the move to Tottenham Hotspurs, Sigurdsson is widely expected to take up the playmaking role. The Iceland international could contribute crucial goals and assiststhat would help Everton. His Premier League experience would also be beneficial.

The Goodison Park executives feel the price is much for Sigurdsson who is around 27 years. The player is keen on the move after he reportedly kicked against a Leicester City move earlier. The Foxes had offered around £40 million aside extras but the player wanted a club with a bigger profile.
