France trying to Improve after 2014 World Cup
During the 2014 World Cup, France went through a fairly impressive campaign as the French side only conceded 3 goals in 5 matches as they finished the group stages at the top spot and later qualified into the knockout stages where the team of Didier Deschamps defeated Nigeria until eventually being eliminated after losing against Germany.
France managed to finish the international competition by placing in the 7th spot which is a huge improvement compared to the 2010 World Cup where they failed to make it out of the group stages.
This improvement that the French national side has recently experienced has led to Didier Deschamps deciding to sign a new contract with the French team in a deal that will see him maintaining charge of the squad until 2018 World Cup.
A statement from the French Football Federation read: “Following a proposal from the President Noël Le Graët, the executive committee of the FFF has decided to extend the contract of France head coach Didier Deschamps until the next World Cup in 2018 in Russia.”
This contract extension that was offered to Didier Deschamps seems to have everyone happy as the French side has claimed victories against Spain, Portugal and Sweden and they seem to be eager and prepared for the upcoming Euro’s 2016. The French national team have been improving and Deschamps can be credited for this improvement.
However, not everyone seems to be happy about the contract extension that was offered to Deschamps as Manchester City’s Samir Nasri considers Deschamps to be a ‘’hypocrite’’.
If Samir Nasri was given the chance to talk with Deschamps, the French midfielder said: “I would tell him that he’s a hypocrite, and that he should have behaved like a man by assuming his choices, and telling me: ‘Listen, it’s like that. You’re not coming, you’re not happy, but never mind.’ But at least have a discussion like a man.”
Samir Nasri and Deschamps do not have a healthy relationship as Deschamps did not include Samir Nasri in his squad for the 2014 World Cup and on 9 August 2014the French midfielder decided to retire from playing at the international stage and one of the main reason on why Nasri opted to do this was because of his negative association that he has with Deschamps.
